OC Transpo
November 17 2009

OC Transpo provides comprehensive transit services to nearly 1 million people in Ottawa. Their fleet has over 1000 buses and 3 trains that serve close to 370,000 daily riders. Their web site receives 17,000 visitors each day as people seek transit schedules and routing updates. The challenge OC Transpo faced was that its site had been built in 1996 and was unable to properly leverage new media and mobile technology as effectively as the organization, and its ridership, desired.
bv02 worked closely with the OC Transpo team to frame, plan, design and develop a site that better disseminated content, was more easily managed and offered the ‘Web 2.0′ features that people were looking for. The result is that navigating Ottawa’s bus system has become easier. Octranspo.com now offers a quick version of its travel planner on every page, along with route timetables. New functions include a Google map lookup of bus stops and departure times, daily service updates, such as route detours, an updated community events listing and a site search function. Riders can also sign up for mobile alerts, which will give customers immediate information about trip cancellations and route detours.
As part of the testing and rollout, bv02 used Get Satisfaction to solicit user feedback and tracked comments posted on Twitter to ensure that the new design and functionality were resonating with transit users. Services provided by bv02 for this wonderful project include; strategy, wireframes, design, photography, content planning, video, technical development (with partner Mercury Grove), technical support and project management.

National Gallery of Canada - Paolo Veronese and the Petrobelli Altarpiece
August 27 2009

Paolo Veronese is arguably one of the great Venetian triumvirate of late Renaissance Mannerist painters. He was commissioned to create The Petrobelli Altarpiece which was completed in 1563. A Venetian art dealer later divided up, and sold the pieces individually for profit. For the first time since The Petrobelli Altarpiece was divided, its fragments have been reassembled and presented to the public by the National Art Gallery of Canada.
bv02 created an interactive research portal to both showcase the restoration, and to highlight the dramatic history behind The Petrobelli Altarpiece. An interactive analysis allows users to iconographically analyze the piece, while the video segments  visually explores the fascinating process which has made the exhibit possible.

Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
April 30 2009

The mission of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) is to protect and promote the privacy rights of individuals. With technology now affecting every aspect of modern life, there has never been a more important time to think about your privacy, and to safeguard it against a broadening range of threats. OPC partnered with bv02 to create the Deep Packet Inspection website to serve as a resource on deep packet inspection. The website grew out of a desire at OPC to understand more about a technology that has application in network traffic management, behavioural advertising, and law enforcement. The website presents the works of leading academics and professionals working in telecommunications, law, privacy, civil liberties and computer science. bv02 developed a successful strategy that took advantage of many levels of social media to encourage discussion around deep packet inspection and similar technologies. Within the first day of launching the site, bv02 tracked over 400 diggs on digg.com and OPC’s deep packet inspection site became the highest digg under the Technology category on that day. Twitter became a hub of activity for people tweeting the successful launch of the site and commenting on its content.

The Pythian Group
March 27 2009

The Pythian Group is an internationally acclaimed company that specializes in outsource database administration. With an impressive new ‘all star’ management team in place Pythian was looking to aggressively grow an already successful business. Core to this sales and marketing plan was the corporate web site and blog. The management team was anxious to revamp the site and to build a new digital brand. They needed an immediate solution, but effective branding takes research, metrics and a bit of time. In an effort to arm Pythian in the near term while the new corporate brand was being developed, bv02’s lead strategist Andrew Milne found an innovative solution; a non-branded site. A clean and professional black and white site was quickly created and the blogging application upgraded. The homepage was restructured to improve web traffic flow but the balance of the site structure remained intact so that metrics could be measured effectively. That’s bv02; innovative, fast and effective.
